Kinetic convex hulls in the black-box model

چکیده
Over the past decade, the kinetic-data-structures framework has become the standard in computational geometry for dealing with moving objects. A fundamental assumption underlying the framework is that the motions of the objects are known in advance. This assumption severely limits the applicability of KDSs. We study KDSs in the black-box model, which is a hybrid of the KDS model and the traditional timeslicing approach. In this more practical model we receive the position of each object at regular time steps and we have an upper bound on dmax, the maximum displacement of any point in one time step. We study the maintenance of the convex hull of a planar point set P in the black-box model, under the following assumption on dmax: there is some constant k such that for any point p ∈ P the disk of radius dmax contains at most k points. We analyze our algorithms in terms of ∆k, the so-called k-spread of P . We show how to update the convex hull at each time step in O(k∆k log 2 n) amortized time.

متن کاملBisubstrate Kinetic Model for Enzymatic Decolorization of Reactive Black 5 by Coprinus cinereus Peroxidase
In this study, decolorization of the diazo dye, Reactive Black 5 (RB5) in a Coprinus cinereus peroxidase-catalyzed reaction has been investigated. A bisubstate kinetic model for the reaction rate based on the Ping-Pong mechanism was assumed for the enzymatic decolorization. Experiment...
متن کاملWhite Space Regions
We study a classical problem in communication and wireless networks called Finding White Space Regions. In this problem, we are given a set of antennas (points) some of which are noisy (black) and the rest are working fine (white). The goal is to find a set of convex hulls with maximum total area that cover all white points and exclude all black points. In other words, these convex hulls make i...
متن کاملLearning Dynamic Programming with Split-Merge Networks
We consider the learning of algorithmic tasks by mere observation of input-output pairs. Rather than studying this as a black-box discrete regression problem with no assumption whatsoever on the input-output mapping, we concentrate on tasks that are amenable to the principle of divide and conquer, and study what are its implications in terms of learning. This principle creates a powerful induct...
